We're excited to share some big news: we have gained Sophora Unternehmerkapital as a strong partner for our next growth phase. Sophora is an independent, owner-managed investment company based in Berlin and Munich, with a clear focus on medium-sized companies across the DACH region.
The goal of the partnership is to build a leading platform for digital transformation, software modernisation, and applied AI in the DACH region, through organic growth and targeted add-on acquisitions. Our four founders Manuel Klein, Matthias Kreuzriegler, David Leitner, and Lukasz Juszczyk remain significantly invested and continue to lead the company.
Since starting out in 2019, we have grown entirely under our own steam, without external capital, driven by engineering excellence and long-standing client relationships. Today we support blue-chip clients in banking, insurance, and public services across the entire technology stack: from system design and architecture through software and legacy modernisation, cloud infrastructure, and platform engineering to agile transformation as well as AI and data engineering. More than 100 people from over ten nationalities work at SQUER today.
Together with Sophora, we intend to extend our offering with Managed AI Services as recurring revenue streams and to expand our presence in Germany and Switzerland in a targeted way.
For us it was clear from the start: we were not looking for a simple exit, but a real partnership. "We were looking for a partner who understands how we work, who joins us at the whiteboard from day one, and who strengthens us with capital and transaction experience. With Sophora, the competence, the references, and the chemistry were right, exactly the criteria by which we choose our own clients," explain Matthias Kreuzriegler and Manuel Klein.
